Minda Schweizer, MDiv is the Founder and Executive Director of Home for Refugees USA. She has a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California at San Diego. She got involved with welcoming refugees in 2015 when she partnered with the church she was serving at with her local resettlement agency to help resettle two families, one from Iraq and one from Afghanistan. After witnessing the heartfelt impact the resettlement partnership had on both the two families and the volunteers involved, she founded Home for Refugees USA which partners faith and community groups with refugees to form Community Sponsorship Teams to help give them a good start their first year. Home for Refugees is based in the greater Los Angeles area and virtually coaches teams nationwide. Home for Refugees’ mission is “to empower refugees to sustain new homes, find new hope, and fully experience life.” Home for Refugees involves volunteers and groups from all faiths and resettles families from all faiths. Home for Refugees is going on warmly welcoming and resettling their 57th family.
